Why I have used a blog.

There are many reasons why I have chosen a blog to be the digital format for my presentation.

Firstly, I think the blog allows for fantastic use of communication. As there is the capability to allow readers of the blog to submit comments - it allows for the further sharing of knowledge and for the discussion surrounding ICT in the classroom to be as diverse and complex as it should be. When creating a blog, it allows you to choose different options in regards to how the comments section will function within the blog. For example, I chose to have any reader of the blog be able to comment (as opposed to only registered members of blogger.com) purely because I thought some people would be off put by the sometimes lengthy sign-up process - and I didn't think that it should negatively affect the type of discussions that can be had. I also chose to moderate my comments before posting, as I want to be selective in the types of comments I recieve on the blog - so I can guide the discussion and to create a level of expectation amongst the readers of the blog.

Secondly, I believe that being able to include various forms of media - like photos, videos, news feeds, counters etc. in the blog is highly beneficial to my presentation. It allows for a certain level of creativity, and to express my findings and expectations by various means.

I also think that the blog is easily created as well. I truly believe it is the easiest to create, with the most effective presentable outcome for the assignment and I'm sure you will agree. More effort has to be spent on the content of the presentation - which meant that for myself - the blog was the only choice. In terms of ICT, it allows for engaging discussion in terms of its use in the classroom - whilst giving my practice in using the ICT and beginning my thinking as to how I can incorporate it into my future lessons.
